Position

The Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) is responsible for coordinating system development tasks for ScaleMatrix to include design, integration and formal testing. SSE oversees all transitions into production for ScaleMatrix clients and customers. Develop and complete actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements and other disciplines. SSE will create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution. Manage and document system configurations. Some architectural workup of solutions is required.

 

Responsibilities

Manage and control the continuous release and maintenance cycles (manually short-term, through automation long-term) including the following environments: specification, design, migration, engineering, quality assurance, training, sales, user acceptance testing, staging and production. Work with other team members in Operations, Sales, and Program Management to plan the deployment of software releases and continuously improve the infrastructure configuration processes. Author internal documentation, such as environment diagrams, installation/configuration documents and release notes. Assist in establishing and implementing configuration management program and policies. Troubleshoot and debug environment and infrastructure problems found in the production and non-production environments. Manage and support product integration services with multiple business partners, including real-time web services and batch processing. Assist in managing the corporate systems in a racked environment. Design and automate systems monitoring tasks using standard monitoring tools. Server hardware provisioning: including configuration and deployment. Data backup management, scheduling and reporting for both internal corporate systems and data center systems. Build and deploy virtualization servers for corporate and data center environments. Troubleshooting and support corporate operations such as corporate web sites, SFTP sites, test management suite, and SMTP services.

 

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science, MIS or technical discipline.
  • 6+ year’s experience supporting complex networks with Microsoft servers, Cisco firewalls, VMWare, HTTP/S, TCP/IP, Active Directory, MS Exchange, MS Terminal Services, DNS services, spam filters, and VPN management.
  • 3+ year’s experience in managing Microsoft-centric web deployments with clustering technologies
  • 4+ year’s experience supporting enterprise class applications in production environments.
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities.
  • Works well individually or in a group setting.
  • Can communicate expertly with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Effectively directs employees.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • High competence, with a track record of strong problem solving.
  • Highly motivated, experienced, resourceful and efficient with a “Can Do” attitude.
  • The candidate must be able to learn quickly, work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
  • Willing to work after hours and weekends (as needed).
  • Customer centric attitude with experience executing deployments and troubleshooting in a 24/7 production environment.

  • Detailed knowledge of Linux/Unix, Windows operating systems and tools
  • Working knowledge of web services, web application development, Linux/Unix/MS SQL Server, multi-tier application systems.
  • Knowledge of software configuration, source control, build engineering, scripting and system administration is required.
  • SaaS (Software as a Service) experience is a plus.
  • Mastery of English with strong verbal and written skills are a necessity

 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and/or 5 years experience in the industry.
  • Advanced certifications preferred.
  • 6 years experience in the IT field.

  • Preferred: MCSE / MCITP(EA), CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, CISSP, CISA, CISM

 

Travel Required

  • Up to 10 percent
