Any Hardware. Any Density. Any Data Center. Dynamic Density Control™ (DDC) is a high-performance cabinet enclosure and data center platform designed to address the growing power, cooling, efficiency, and density challenges of today’s changing IT landscape, all for less than $1/watt. The DDC platform supports any rack-mountable hardware configuration, at nearly any density, without the need for customization or modification to the hardware being deployed. DDC enclosures address thermal management issues, noisy neighbor challenges, and provide significantly improved physical security; enabling them to be deployed in existing or new data center sites with ease, while providing the flexibility to extend into less traditional locations such as laboratories, ships, and warehouses. DDC is a fully enclosed, closed-loop platform delivering near-silent operation with stunning density and efficiency results. Much more than simple cooling technology, DDC delivers full data center functionality with integrated air handling, fire suppression, air filtration, access control, and a variety of cabinet or facility-level monitoring options offered as part of the solution.
At the heart of the Dynamic Density Control™ platform is the variable density feature, which drives the efficiency, flexibility, and ease-of-use of this powerful platform. By combining our fully enclosed design with the world’s first liquid-air hybrid cooling platform, an individual cabinet enclosure can vary from 1kW to 52kW of workload with no need for interaction from the data center operator. The fully automated platform adjusts the density of the IT load being supported to ensure maximum density support, while maintaining maximum efficiency.
Intelligent power design ensures maximum efficiency and reliable uptime for your IT infrastructure.
Reduce clutter and mitigate risk with secure cable management. We help run all of your wiring through protected conduits to protect your data even further.
State of the art remote management platform lets you monitor and manage your cabinet environment and consumption.
Logged, dual factor, biometric security keeps you informed and your hardware safe.
With DDC, you are free to choose any hardware solution at nearly any density, providing it can be mounted in a 4-post rack. Due to the closed-loop, NEMA3 design of the cabinet enclosures, they can be installed in data centers, working labs, and warehouses without concern for heat output, noise output, or environmental impact. As densities increase, traditional solutions (liquid-to-the-chip and liquid-immersion) call for highly specialized ways to address power and cooling challenges. Cool door or similar technologies provide additional cooling capacity, but carry a large price tag, which only address thermal challenges and are “fixed” to the rack location in which they are deployed. With DDC, we skip the band-aid approach, and solve the long-term problems facing data center operators today. Densities are increasing, platforms and use cases continue to evolve, and the platforms we deploy to support them need to have varying density and resource management in order to address those challenges.
Designed to address the inefficiencies associated with traditional raised floor or air-cooled data center designs, the DDC platform uses a liquid–air hybrid system to deliver significant power and cooling efficiencies to the data center. In a survey of six existing raised floor, hot aisle/cold aisle type facilities, the DDC platform was able to demonstrate nearly 30% improvement of operational efficiencies at the facility level. By dynamically adjusting resource allocation (chilled water and air) based on thermal loads within the deployed cabinet environments.
With DDC, the platform adjusts resource allocation based on the thermal load within the cabinet enclosure. Adjusting chilled water and air resources to match the thermal needs of the IT resources in real time, means there is no waste and you are free to move and migrate IT workloads from cabinet to cabinet, or from one section of the data center to another without concern for power or cooling. With traditional cooling methods, operators often grapple with the reality of stranded data center assets. Power or cooling deployed for one solution becomes unused or inaccessible to the rest of the facility. With DDC, a shift in workload requirement is immediately noticed, and adding or removing resources can be utilized elsewhere in the facility. Data centers are designed for decades of use, but the IT platforms deployed within them are often refreshed every three to four years. With the changes in compute and density occurring each and every year, the DDC platform provides the needed future proofing every data center needs to secure their IT investment.
The ScaleMatrix S1000 Cabinet Platform provides the flexibility to support any hardware device, size, or density requirement. The S1000 Cabinets come complete with Universal Mounting Kits, Flexible Air Handling Kits, Wide Body Design for Non-Standard Equipment:

The DDC platform can be deployed as a single or multi-cabinet solution to address small, high-density workloads, or can be deployed facility-wide to delivery next-generation efficiency and flexibility for today’s high-demand data center operator. The platform can be designed into new construction sites, or can be added on to any existing facility or deployment. The closed loop nature of the platform allows for deployment in nearly any environment; as heat, noise, and environmental output from the cabinets are nearly non-existent. In resource-constrained data centers, the cabinets have been deployed on existing raised floor space, or have been deployed in warehouse or lab space nearby, providing much needed density or cooling capacity for new workloads.
The DDC enclosure design provides the ultimate in environmental control. The NEMA3 rated, air-filtered cabinets protect your IT equipment from particulate, moisture, and tampering, while enabling the platform to be installed in areas considered less than hospitable for traditional data center equipment. The in-cabinet liquid-air cooling system enables the platform to deliver precise temperature control to the intake side of the cabinet, which is maintained to within a few degrees of the set-point automatically.
With little to no particulate and precise temperature control, your IT hardware will last longer and perform better as a result of the DDC platform.
Environment management tools provide enhanced cooling and monitoring to deliver precise resources automatically 24/7.
NEMA3 enclosures provide protection from particulate, moisture and tampering.
Integrated air filtration eliminates any particulate introduced while the cabinet is open.
The DDC platforms come with an integrated air handling and fire suppression system. While traditional data centers use zone-based systems to handle air flow and fire suppression, this approach presents a large risk profile and impact area should a false positive, or actual issue occur. With DDC, each cabinet enclosure operates as an individual availability zone, with its own, independent air handling and fire suppression system. This feature greatly improves risk management, and ensures that an issue in a single cabinet is limited to that one availability zone.
DDC cabinet enclosures provide unmatched security for the most discerning of use cases. Everyone benefits from the 100% enclosed design features and available biometric security, especially in highly regulated industries where specific concerns around electronic communications and emissions exist.
DDC access control can be integrated with LDAP or other platforms to provide historic and real-time access control reporting.
The S1000 Cabinet Platform integrated state-of-the-art biometric security at the cabinet level, to provide unmatched access control and entry/event logging.

DDC offers a variety of options from basic cabinet level set points and monitoring, to industry leading single-pane-of-glass solutions capable of providing concise and detailed information on thousands of individual cabinets deployed across data centers located across the globe.
The DDC platform can be deployed for a single use or to future proof an entire data center. The solution combines the cabinet enclosure, air-handlers, access control, fire suppression, and industry leading PUE and THERMAL DENSITY for less than $1/watt. In existing deployments, the DDC platform has helped reduce chilled water demand by 20% or more, representing a significant savings and rapid path to return on investment. For others, the savings realized by not stranding power and cooling assets, or from being able to extend density capabilities without major upgrades, provides an immediate return.
